Description
This is one of my two entries in this year’s 2022 National Collage Show, under the title of “Ode to O.C.D”... I doubt that the jury will select it, precisely because of it’s obsessive and compulsive nature. It is really just an exercise called “ How many scraps of paper can be glued on an 18x24 inch piece of cardboard ?” The answer is “hundreds”, including the many dozens hidden underneath… I often came across new scraps that seemed to improve the design and glued them over earlier choices.
This is my longest living work, which started around 1977 as a piece called “Honey”, and gradually evolved until August 2021. See the descriptions of the 3 Previous images for details…

Walt Whitman continued to rewrite Leaves of Grass. Honey is now Ode to O.C.D. Congrats my friend and keep going!

What a fine and insightful compliment !..l haven’t read Leaves of Grass since I was in college over half a century ago, I may go to the public library and check it out…

Amazing piece! I admire your dedication and patience. It's nice to see that the word 'Honey' survived until the piece was finished!
Douglas Fromm replied:
Thank you for your observant compliment !..you are the first visitor to comment on “Honey”. I had forgotten about it myself until I wrote this description and remembered how this all started many years ago…

Douglas, 'Red Bullseyes' is also proof that the O.C.D mind can create an artistic tour de force such as this. Congratulations on the 'CONSPICUOUS COLLAGE' feature!

Super collage! Congrats on its new designation as Conspicuous! Wise to keep to a limited color scheme and the colors you used work well together.
Douglas Fromm replied:
Thank you for this quite perceptive comment ! ..I wondered if anyone would notice that this is basically a three color scheme. This started out as a black and white image only, and then a solitary red Target was added. Years later I decided to add many more Targets, and was extremely tempted to start adding other colors, but forced myself to stay with the 3 color program, which was tough. Discipline is not often one of my strong points.

Douglas, what an incredible feat! This is a mesmerizing, intriguing, visually pleasing creation! It's the CONSPICUOUS COLLAGE of the week! Fav/tweet!
Douglas Fromm replied:
Thank you so much for such an accolade !…I was not anticipating much of a response, since over the years my highly detailed works such as this usually collect such adjectives as “overdone” or “claustrophobic “.
