Description
I parked my car in a parking lot next to a wooded area in Alpharetta Georgia, and saw this odd hole in the bark of a tree. The trunk was only two feet from the curb of the parking lot. It appears that a limb was cut off so that it would not hang into the lot. A closeup view of the wood inside the circular area reveals straight lines across the circular grain that are saw marks. It appears that the tree healed itself from losing it’s limb by growing the circular “life saver” shape collar.

Very perceptive!....I believe that trees are like humans (and probably like every creature, past and present ) because no two are alike. They are living sculptures, slowly but constantly changing as they grow. Untold millions of people have worshipped trees throughout the passing millennia.

Excellent. I love nature nuggets like these! Trees are amazing beings and develop the most fascinating art forms... if you only take the time to look. I believe trees are people too.
