Description
Another work in a series that I call “ Collaboration with Unknown Artists “...I bought this quirky work in a thrift store. An anonymous artist had glued shiny new steel washers on a canvas painted with an odd neutral background color. I cut dozens of paper circles and ovals, mostly letter O’s from magazines, and then glued them around and inside the washers.I generally followed the outline of the washers, with the exception of the left corners and the left center. I have no idea what the intention of the anonymous artist was, but it seemed to resemble an italic letter E - thus the title.
This work is not really complete, but I couldn’t decide what direction to go next, and I was tired of working on it..perhaps I will finish it in the future. Arthritis is starting to diminish my ability to cut circles as small as 1/8th of an inch.

Thanks, James.....I always wonder about the unknown artists whose artworks end up donated to thrift stores....we’re unlikely to ever know who, or why. It would be interesting, but highly unlikely, to find enough letters to complete the alphabet this way. I started painting letters, but gave up after A, Q, and Z...
