Artist's Description
In 1967 I moved to New York City. While working as a messenger I would make very quick sketches of street scenes and buildings while waiting for stoplights to change, or while waiting for buses. After work I would select some of them from my pocket size pad and transfer them to a sheet of watercolor paper. I changed mediums almost every time, so this final work is a conglomeration of pencil, ballpoint, felt tip pen, crayon, watercolor, and even coffee that spilled while working on the piece, which I outlined to make them resemble dirty clouds.
About Douglas Fromm
Douglas Fromm is a self taught artist who started his career designing concert posters and record album covers for San Francisco rock bands. He is a Signature Member of the National Collage Society (USA), and has had work selected by juries to be exhibited in 10 different National Collage Shows during the years from 2009 through 2023. .. One of his works ( shown on FAA as "An Artist Contemplates Good and Evil" ) is part of the National Collage Teaching Collection at Kent State University, Ohio.
