I squirted some acrylic paint straight out of the tubes onto the canvas, then embedded the styrofoam central eyeball and the plastic eyeballs with acrylic gel medium. The thin spiderweb lines are dental floss added to the final layers of varnish.

Excellent composition, as your brain would like to see the squirted lines moving, look long enough and they do! Mike
Douglas Fromm replied:
Thank you, Mike... I wasn’t thinking about composition when I started, just having fun squirting paint out of tubes...however I did choose complimentary orange and green to make it more interesting. The blue was a horrible mistake, but before I could correct that someone bought the goofy thing !
Bunny Clarke
This is fabulously creepy. Love this Douglas.
Douglas Fromm replied:
“Fabulously Creepy “ is a superlative compliment, Bunny....thanks for bestowing such high praise !

Outstanding composition, lighting, shading, color and artwork! F/L …voted for this piece in the contest SQUARE FORMAT
Douglas Fromm replied:
Thanks Gary !...this piece was actually a 20 inch circular canvas, but I decided that cropping the photograph of it to a square format made it more appealing...

This piece is really cool on its own, but then when you add the title...it triggered uncontrolled giggling (in a good way.) Looking closer, there is something innately menacing about all the tentacles and eyes (sort a 60s film monster if in black and white) but the cheerful bright-neon kids' colors used strikes an incongruous note. Then you read the title and discover the scary monster is trapped in a much-dreaded spiderweb and cue the giggle of glee. I love how you play with our psyches in this beautiful piece. Well done!
